Dear IJP Families;
Please join us for All School Mass during this Lenten season. Mass is Wednesday morning at 9 am on March 14th and March 21st. The students and staff do a wonderful job preparing readings, intentions, and music for each Mass. We will not have All School Mass on the 28th but instead come together on Holy Thursday, March 29th at 10:45 am for the 8th grade performance of the Living Stations of the Cross in the church. It is a powerful presentation that should not be missed.
On Wednesday, March 14th at 10 am, IJP will come together and work with the community of Catholic schools to pray for a lasting peace from violence in solidarity with a national movement on the same day. As Dr. Rigg, Superintendent of the Archdiocese has stated, “At times such as these, our Catholic faith leads us to seek solace and strength in prayer, and fellowship and solidarity with those who are wounded and suffering great loss. In our mission as educators, we must recognize that the children in our care look to us for guidance and redouble our efforts to teach peace making. Such education is part of our Catholic mission, as we seek to share the compassion and love of Christ with the communities we serve.”
Last Call: The Lost and Found table in the cafeteria currently holds a gigantic array of clothing, outerwear, and miscellaneous items. If your child is missing something, please have them check the table before or after school, or during lunch time. If a parent would like to come and check for a lost item, please stop in before or after school next week. After March 16th, unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Our cafeteria recycling program continues, planned and led by our “Green Team”. All milk cartons, cans, plastic and glass bottles are being sorted and recycled. We have several recycling containers in the cafeteria and first floor hallway. Currently, we are also collecting metal “pop top” tabs in each homeroom and weighing our collections throughout the school year. In addition to being a recycling program, all collected tabs will go to the Ronald McDonald House to help off-set program costs.
If you have yet to turn in your registration for next year, please do so as soon as possible. Class size and personnel for next year are based on currently registered students. Your commitment is greatly needed. The Registration Fee is due no later than Thursday, March 15th.
The 5th Annual Trek for Tech 5K Race is scheduled for April 28, 2018. Last year’s event was awesome and we are hoping even more school families and IJP friends will participate this year! We are trying to replace the laptops in our mobile carts that are obsolete and dying quickly with more efficient Chromebooks. The laptops are used every day for projects, research, and testing.
To add extra excitement to the Trek, we are running a contest at school. The homeroom with the highest percentage of race registrations will win a super fun prize package: Jeans Day, Pizza Lunch at School, Afternoon at the Park and an Ice Cream Treat! Registrations can include students, family members, and any friends or neighbors who sign up with you. Forms were sent home with students last week. Registration forms can be copied. They are also be located on the IJP website or may be picked up at school.
Blessings to you this Lenten Season!
