December 8, 2017

Dear IJP Families,

Blessings to you, this first week of Advent!

I am looking for a group of parents that are interested in helping out the school during our upcoming recruitment season.  We would like to see our school grow and need positive advocates as Parent Ambassadors who would be willing to deliver flyers, talk to prospective families at Open House or by phone, and in general, spread the news of all the good things happening at IJP. Please stop in, call, or email me if you would be interested in assisting.

Congratulations to the IJP Respect Life Essay Contest winners for 2017.  This essay contest is sponsored by the Respect Life Committee of IJP Parish through the month of October. The theme for this year was “Be Not Afraid”. The school uses this contest as part of our writing curriculum practice. 1st Grade-Elizabeth Barlow and Melissa Thompson, 2nd Grade-Kaeleigh Russell and Sydney Skinner, 3rd Grade-Joseph Brim and Makenzie Wormbly, 4th grade-Dominic Cortes, Marissa Fields, and Cayden Durr, 5th Grade-Hiroshio Haddon and Jorden Connor, 6th Grade-Maura Hanley, Josh Davis and Nancy Valdivia, 7th Grade-Jorge Aguilar and Anjelica Soto, and 8th Grade- Alexandria Edison, Nataleigh Russell, and Dylan Ross.

Please take the time to stay up to date on daily happenings and latest news by looking at the school website and by following IJP School on Facebook.

Our music program continues to flourish at IJP!  We have a great opportunity to perform our Christmas Concert in a wonderful setting again this year.  Our Junior, Senior, and Symphonic Bands, along with the Kingmen Choir and Show Choir, will perform at the Marian Catholic High School Auditorium on Tuesday, December 12th at 7:00 pm. Please come and support our talented musicians.

No Cook Wednesday is next week! Please plan on stopping by Twisted Q, 2053 Ridge Rd, Homewood, for great barbeque and sweet treats next Wednesday, December 13th between 10:30 am and 8:00 pm. For every flyer presented, IJP School receives 10% of all sales.  Invite your friends, family, and neighbors! Flyer must be presented when ordering. Click here for flyer.

Join us as we celebrate the season with our traditional Christmas program on Tuesday, December 19th at 7:00 pm in the Church.  Mrs. Barnick, the IJP choirs, musicians, narrators, and all the students have been working very hard to present this year’s production. Take time to pause and reflect on the reason for the season as we await the wondrous coming of the Lord.

The PTO sponsored Christmas Pizza Lunch is Thursday, December 21st.  Just a reminder that the kitchen is closed on that day.  Students may wear jeans, and a red, green or appropriate Christmas shirt to celebrate the last full day of the school year and the beginning of Christmas vacation. The school gym shoe policy still applies.

There will be No School on Friday, December 22nd. This is a change in the published school calendar as a teacher in-service was added.  Students will have a regular school day on Thursday, 12/21. There will be Extended Day Care before and after school on Thursday as well. School resumes for students on Tuesday, January 9th.

We will be hosting our second Open House for prospective students on Thursday, February 1st during Catholic Schools Week. If you know of a family that is looking at school options for next fall, please hand them our Open House postcard and encourage them to stop by and see what IJP has to offer. Write you name on the postcard and if the family comes to Open House and/or enrolls in our school, your family will receive an incentive reward! If you need another postcard, please call the school office.

Peace to you as we await the Christ child,

Natalie Formica
